Goat Care






 General Goat Care

  • goats need to be tended to regularly to maintain good health
  • feed goats a quality supplement and allow them to grazing regularly
  • update vaccinations occasionally
  • Deworm goats regularly
  • Administer medication when necessary.   The vaccinations given and the worming schedule is something that every goat owner should read up on and make their own decision about.
  • your choices may be different than mine on these matters.



A healthy goat 

Signs of a healthy goat:


  • Eyes clear and bright
  • Coat smooth and shiny.
  • Appetite good (it is normal for a doe in labor to refuse to eat.
  • Attitude alert


A unhealthy goat 

Signs of a unhealthy goat:


  • Tearing or cloudy eyes probably mean a pinkeye infection.
  •  A dull coat could indicate parasites. Fluffed up coat means the goat is not feeling well.
  • Hunched back and droopy tail mean something is wrong.  Not eating well (nibbling) 
  • not eating well (nibbling)
