Importance of the Goat Farming Industry
Goats are multi-purpose animals which can supply meat, milk and fibre. Over one hundred (100) breeds of goat world wide are bred for meat, milk and fibre. Today, a large number of persons worldwide drink milk and eat meat from goats than from any other animal.
In Trinidad and Tobago, most dairy farms are individually run primarily by a male farmer with the assistance of his spouse and or children. A few larger farms exist where production is overseen by a farm manager.
The main purpose of rearing dairy goats is for milk. Some farmers sell the goat's milk in their communities while others sell to groceries.

ReplyDeleteI was literally brought up using cow's milk, with a firm belief that it was the best. However, from the above research, I can clearly see that I was in the wrong. I am so much appreciative of this new knowledge which Ihave received, in regards to the nutritional value of goat's milk, in comparison to that of cow's milk.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that Brenda. Not withstanding goat's milk is more nutritious, it should be noted that you can rear much more goats a piece of land required to rear a cow. Have you considered that?
DeleteThank you very much Sherma, I never really considered it. Just want to let you know. I offered some friends a very rich drink, made of course with goat's milk. And girl, to my surprise they really enjoyed it. While chatting, they wanted to know what exactly they had. After mentioning that the drink was made with goat's milk, they could not believe it. I then started sharing the nutritional value of goat's milk in comparison to that of cow's milk. They even decided to give it a try. Thank you very much Sherma. Keep up the hard work.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, Brenda, your comments are encouraging. Thank you. If you have young ones you should also consider a nutrition of goat's milk.
